MATTHEW NUSS
President

Matthew has been and continues to be a flag-bearer in the independent luxury-boutique vertical.  As ZaZa’s leader of revenue creation, guest experience, sales & marketing, business, and now development strategies, he and his team continue to generate market-leading revenues, profits, and owner returns.  Despite the onslaught of indy “wannabes”, ZaZa remains the true independent in the boutique segment that outperforms the “wolves in sheep’s clothing” such as Marriott’s Autograph Collection, Hilton’s Curio, Hyatt’s Unbound and Thompson, and IHG’s Kimpton, etc.  In addition Matthew and this team easily outperform the similarly thinly-veiled “independent” arms of the typical brand management companies such as Aimbridge, Davidson, HEI, etc.

Prior to ZaZa Hospitality, LLC, Matthew was a founding Principal and Executive Vice President of Valencia Group where he single-handedly developed the Hotel Valencia brand and positioned both Hotel Valencia Santana Row in Silicon Valley and Hotel Valencia Riverwalk in San Antonio as RevPAR, F&BPOR, and TRevPOR leaders. Before Valencia, he enjoyed a successful 10 year career with Omni Hotels where he was named General Manager of the Year and earned the reputation as a turnaround expert for the company in such flagship hotels as the Omni Berkshire Place in Midtown Manhattan, the Omni Parker House in Boston, the Omni CNN Center in Atlanta and the Omni Tucson National Resort & Spa. Matthew has a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Kansas and attended graduate business school at the University of Nebraska.

VINCENT MENNELLA
Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Vince leads the finance team of ZaZa Hospitality, LLC to include accounting, systems and controls, banking and cash management, internal and external audit processes, risk management and information technology. Vincent was most recently Vice President Finance with Benchmark Hospitality International, Division Vice President Finance with Sage Hospitality Resources and Vice President-Regional Controller at Destination Hotels & Resorts. In addition, he was Vice President of Hospitality Accounting with Wyndham International. Vincent holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Management from Northeastern Illinois University and a masters of Business Administration from Illinois Institute of Technology.

ZACH SCHATZ
Senior Financial Analyst 
Zach brings with him a wealth of experience from both public accounting and private enterprise. He currently works as a Senior Financial Analyst for Snowmass Creek Capital where he helps oversee a diverse portfolio of investments while developing new investment opportunities. Zach works with the ZaZa Hospitality team to underwrite development deals and source financing on behalf of S.C.C.  Prior to joining Snowmass, Zach worked as a Senior Auditor for Ernst & Young. In addition to a CPA license, Zach holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration as well as a master’s degree in Accounting from Texas Christian University.

STEPHANIE HERREJON
Vice President of Human Resources
Stephanie is the Vice President of Human Resources and leads all facets of associate relations including recruitment and retention, employee relations, training, compensation, regulatory compliance and benefit programs. Previously, Stephanie enjoyed a successful 10 year career with Starwood Hotels and Resorts where she was Director at such great hotels as the Westin LaCantera Resort and the Houston St. Regis as well as a part of the regional training team across multiple Starwood brands.

IAN BUSH
Area General Manager, Houston
Ian is in charge of the day to day operations of both Museum District and Memorial City ZaZas and is the main point of contact for ZaZa’s third-party owners at Memorial City, MetroNational.   Ian joined ZaZa in 2010 as Director of Rooms at the Museum District ZaZa and quickly proved he could handle that responsibility and more.   Ultimately, he rose to General Manager of the Museum District hotel and then did yeoman’s work in his next role as GM for the pre-opening and opening of the Memorial City ZaZa.   He came to ZaZa from a private resort company on Florida’s gold coast and prior to that he enjoyed progressive success in rooms division management roles with both Loews Hotels and Omni Hotels & Resorts.  Ian has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Xavier University of Louisiana.

ASHLEY BARTEK
Director of Sales
Ashley started her career in the reservations department, quickly moved through the sales and catering department of the Museum District ZaZa, and to her first leadership position, Associate Director of Catering.  Ashley was promoted to Associate Director of Sales for the pre-opening and opening of Hotel ZaZa Memorial City where she shattered her booking goals.  Ashley now leads the joint sales and catering efforts of both Houston ZaZas. She is a graduate of Texas Christian University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies.

LISA FUENTES
Director of Revenue Management
Lisa graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management.  Out of school, Lisa dove right into operations at several properties under the Marriott and Hilton flags across the DFW Metroplex with Magnolia Lodging. Lisa then ventured abroad to Peru where she ran a bed and breakfast.  Upon her return to the States, she joined ZaZa in 2010 as Complex Reservations Manager. Lisa ascended to Director of Revenue where she was a key cog in the successful openings of both the Memorial City and Austin properties. She continues to push all ZaZa’s in leading brand.com contribution as well overall RevPAR performance.

TRAVIS DRAKE
Director of Web, e-Commerce & Graphic Design
Travis leads Hotel ZaZa’s creative and design efforts while focusing on the growth and maintenance of a cohesive brand. When arriving at Hotel ZaZa in 2010, He led a hotel wide re-branding program and centralized ZaZa’s departmental needs for promotional, e-marketing, social media and internally-branded collateral. Travis also oversees website design and content management, as well as the hotel’s various e-marketing platforms. Travis has a bachelor’s degree in Communications Design from Texas State University and has been working within the creative field since 2004 focusing on graphic design, brand building and marketing.
