MELANIE & LUCAS A Modern Love Story,
Timelessly Told
The Art of Perfect Beginnings Discover
Our Wedding
Melanie and Lucas are a true modern love story: they met on Hinge, and after their first date at Blue Sushi Sake Grill in the Heights on June 23, 2022, they were inseparable. In December 2024, on the first day of a Hawaii trip, Lucas led Melanie to a “secret beach” in Ko Olina. A photographer she assumed was there for the resting seals captured Lucas on one knee, before the two celebrated on a sunset cruise.
Hotel ZaZa honestly exceeded all of our expectations. We loved the beautiful suites and all of the thoughtful little touches that made us feel so celebrated throughout the weekend. What stood out most, though, was the service.
A HOUSTON HOTEL WEDDING
Houston has always been home. Lucas was born here and Melanie was raised in Sugar Land. They knew they wanted a hotel wedding, and Hotel ZaZa Memorial City stood out right away. “We loved the location, atmosphere, the beautiful spaces, and the overall feel of the venue,” the couple shared.
WHEN THE DAY ARRIVED
ALL THE EMOTIONS
On the morning of the wedding, Melanie and Lucas felt happy, nervous, excited and a little in disbelief. After more than a year of planning, the day they had dreamed of was finally here.
A QUIET MOMENT FOR TWO
Right after the ceremony, the newlyweds slipped away for a private dinner together, a chance to catch their breath and soak in being married before rejoining the celebration.
A TEAM THAT GOES ABOVE & BEYOND
“At the end of the night, I accidentally left our custom champagne glasses in the ballroom,” Melanie shared. “The team found them, kept them safe, and made sure we got them back. It may seem like a small thing, but it meant so much to us.”
With a classic, timeless vision, the couple wanted their celebration to feel like one big dinner party: warm, welcoming and full of the people they love most.
“We absolutely loved all of the décor - the flowers were beautiful, and seeing the reception room come together was everything we had envisioned.”
A PACKED DANCEFLOOR ALL NIGHT LONG
Marion, their violinist, set the tone for the ceremony and cocktail hour. After a quiet dinner for two, the newlyweds rejoined their guests.
Their first dance to John Mayer's cover of “XO” by Beyoncé was followed by heartfelt speeches full of laughter, tears and stories.
With friends, family and Lucas's entire grad school class in one room, the dancefloor was never empty.
A Timeless Celebration, Right at Home
Melanie and Lucas's wedding at Hotel ZaZa Memorial City was everything they hoped for: classic, warm and full of joy. From the thoughtful touches in their suite to their first dance as newlyweds, every moment felt like their own.
Their advice to other couples? “Everything has a way of working itself out,” they shared. “Trust the vendors you hired. They're the experts, and letting go of the little details allowed us to truly enjoy the day.”
